Die Care4Saxony-Nachwuchsforscher Lorenz Harst und Patrick Timpel haben zusammen mit Sarah Oswald (Masterstudiengang Public Health) und Prof. Dr. Peter Schwarz (UKD, Prävention und Versorgung des Diabetes), eine systematische Literaturrecherche zur Wirksamkeit von Telemedizin bei Patienten mit Diabetes, Lipidstoffwechselstörung und Buthochdruck im Journal of Medical Internet Research (JMIR) veröffentlicht.

While nowadays in terms of healthcare issues everybody talks about electronic health records, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Telemedicine etc., one topic, which is often forgotten or at least less publicly discussed, is standards in healthcare.

As digital health interventions are becoming more popular and important, members of the Care4Saxony team in cooperation with members of the Center for digital health interventions from the University of St Gallen decided to provide a framework for the evaluation of digital health interventions and the barriers they might face.

Games for staying healthy? – Research says yes!

One of the most popular examples for the use of gamification in healthcare is the mHealth game Pokémon GO (Figure 1), with almost 150 million active users per month. Whether catching Pokemon with the smartphone or using other gaming activities helps increasing healthy behavior or disease self-management is discussed by two students from the Health Information Management seminar taught by members of Care4Saxony.

Latest eHealth Innovations – Current Trends

Within the first quarter of the 21st century, a continuous trend of small, innovative enterprises trying to enter established industries in the search for scalable business models for health interventions can be seen. This is also true for the health sector. Especially the occurrence of new technologies and ubiquitous devices like smartphones created unknown possibilities for startups to enter areas formally only open to medical experts.
